I Was Once Your Everything

I was once your everything
Tell me when did you fall out of love
Must have been sleepwalking
Didn’t see it coming

Truth it all came crashing down
When you sat me down one night
I couldn’t look at you
She broke down and cried

Never thought you’d break my heart
Never thought you’d break our trust
There is nothing you can say to change my mind
You destroyed us with your lies
You destroyed you and I

Thoughts were racing through my mind
Why’d you have to go and stray
I thought it meant more to you
You threw our love away

Never thought you’d break my heart
I never thought you’d break our trust
There is nothing you can do to change my mind
You destroyed us with your lies
You destroyed you and I

Now there's nothing left to say
When you realise what you've lost It'll be too late

Now you’re nothing but a memory
Feelings fade with time
I was once your everything
And you were mine

Alcohol & Pills

Hank Williams, he came up from Montgomery
With a heart full of broken country songs
Nashville Tennessee didn't really understand him
'Cause he did things differently than the way that they were done

When he finally made it to the Grand Ole' Opry he made it stand still
He ended up on alcohol and pills

Elvis Presley, he came up from Jackson
With a brand new way of singin' Lord, and a brand new way of dancin'
Even from the waist up Lord, he gave the world a thrill
He ended up on alcohol and pills

Alcohol and pills, it’s a cryin' shame
You think they might have been happy with the glory and the fame
But fame don't take away the pain, it just pays the bills
And you wind up on alcohol and pills

Janis Joplin, she was wild and reckless
Then there was Gram Parsons, Lord, and then there was Jimi Hendrix
The story just goes on and on, I guess it always will
They end up on alcohol and pills

Alcohol and pills, it’s a cryin' shame
You think they might have been happy with the glory and the fame
But fame don't take away the pain, it just pays the bills
And you wind up on alcohol and pills

Sometimes somebody just doesn't wake up one day
Sometimes it's a heart attack, sometimes they just don't say

But they pulled poor old Hank Williams out of a Cadillac Coupe DeVille
He ended up on alcohol and pills

Alcohol and pills, ohh it’s a cryin' shame
You think they might have been happy with the glory and the fame
Fame don't take away the pain, it just pays the bills
And you wind up on alcohol and pills
You wind up on alcohol and pills

Take Me Back

The wind blows down from the mountain
I hear the birds morning call
I’m walking by your side
And I’ve got no cares at all

The sun is chasing off the shadows
Of this well worn path we walk each day
Up ahead the dogs are running
And you let me lead the way

Take me back, take me back
It’s bittersweet thinking bout good times
How fast they all flew by
Take me back, one more time

Every Christmas we’d all gather
The summer days went on and on
Playing cricket on the front lawn
While sing The Irish Rovers songs

Take me back, take me back
It’s bittersweet thinking bout good times
How fast they all flew by
Take me back, one more time

That childhood it was a good one
I’m fortunate for this, I know
We carry our stories with us
Everywhere these heart of ours roams
Everywhere these heart of ours roams

Take me back, take it back
It’s bittersweet thinking bout good times
How fast it all flew by
Take me back, one more time
Take me back, one more time
Take me back, one more time

Waiting

You’ve got me walking on eggshells, babe
Wondering what I’m here for
You should think about if I’m what you want
Caz I’m about to tip toe right out your door

Caz I’m through with waiting for a better day

We’ve been drifting apart for a while
Hoping that things would come right
I wish you’d let me know what’s on your mind
It seems you’ve given up on us without a fight

Well I’m through with waiting for a better day
I’m through with waiting for happiness to come my way
I’m through with waiting for you to show me, you love me, for me
Guess I’ll keep waiting

Now I’m lying awake at night
Sinking back slowly
All the good we’ve been through before
Should stop the longing and lonely

So I’ll keep waiting for a better day
I’ll keep waiting for happiness to come my way
I’ll keep waiting for you to show me you love me for me
I’ll keep waiting

You’ve got me walking on eggshell babe
Hoping that things will come right
We’ve thought about what we want
Lets just sleep on it one more night

Rough Seas

Jimmy wanted to see the world
So at 17 he joined the Merchant Navy
Barely had a dime to his name
Just gathered up some clothes in a beat up suitcase

So he jumped on a DC3
It flew him from Hokitika through to Nelson
Got a ticket on the Nio
It’s where it all began I suppose

As he sits back in his easy chair
He said “kid I’ve got some stories”

They were hard times, I’ve had a wild life
If I’d have carried on through those rough seas
Who knows what would’ve become of me
I could be sailing the seven seas
Or keeping Davy Jones company

Jimmy found himself in the capital
A greenhorn so far away from home
Got a job as a deck boy
On a brand new ship from Amsterdam

The work was hard & the days were long
Learning every job they threw his way
He was about to board his 7th ship
Till he got the call to head back home

As he sits back in his easy chair
He said “things could’ve gone a different way”

They were hard times, I’ve had a wild ride
If I’d have carried on through those rough seas
Who knows what would’ve become of me
I could be sailing the seven seas
Or keeping Davy Jones company
Oh I should be sailing the seven seas
And keeping Davy Jones company

Precious Little Moments

I hope you feel how much I love you
My darling little one
We share these precious little moments
That in a moment will be gone

I sway you in my arms to soothe you
And lay you gently down at night
Since the moment I first held you
My heart’s been held by you so tight

No matter where you go or what you’ll be
I’ll be here unconditionally
I promise I will keep you in my mind
Each precious little moment for the rest of time

My love the stars are brightly shining
And it’s time to close your eyes
I send a sweet dream to find you
By singing you this lullaby

No matter where you go or what you’ll be
I’ll be here unconditionally
I promise I will keep you in my mind
Each precious little moment for the rest of time

I'll always be here to protect you
Be your safe place to fall
No matter where the nights may take you
I'll be here for you through it all

Straight Talkin’ Woman

I’m a straight talkin woman, I was born this way
I call a spade a spade, I say what I wanna say
Subtle as a freight train, screamin' down the track
Life’s too short to be any other way, that’s a matter of fact

I ain’t got time for bullshit, even less for games
Don’t go beating round the bush, I ain’t got all day
Let’s get down to business, stop fooling around
You seem to like to open your mouth, just to hear the sound

Woooooo

Now that’s not to say I’m heartless, ignorant or cruel
I’m just not one to sit around and suffer fools
If you ask for my opinion or want my advice
You’ll get the truth even if it hurts, that should come as no surprise

Yea I curse like a sailor, can drink like one too
If you’ve got a problem with that you know what you can do
I take no prisoners, just leave em behind
One day you come to realise I’m the best kind of woman you’ll find

I’m a straight talkin woman, I was born this way
Call a spade a spade, I say what I wanna say
I’m as subtle as a freight train, screamin' round the track
Life’s too short to be any other way,  that’s a matter of fact
Oh life’s too short to be any other way,  that’s a matter of fact
I said life’s too short to be any other way,  that’s a matter of fact

West Coast

We’ve got the mighty Southern Alps and the rugged Tasman Sea
Hidden between the two is where you’ll find me
You can follow highway 6 from the top to the south
Forest green and full of life ‘cause it’s usually pissin’ down

It’s in my blood, it’s in my bones
This is where I come from

The West Coast,
ohh the West Coast
You can travel all around this world, it’ll call you home
Back to the West Coast

It was pretty quiet round here till the diggers came to town
The Crooked Mile it strung to life the day that gold was found
Nowadays we hunt and fish and farm, look for timber and coal
Life is at a quieter pace, it eases a weary soul

It’s in my blood, it’s in my bones
This is where I come from

The West Coast,
Ohh the West Coast
You can travel all around this world. it’ll call you home
Back to the West Coast

You can call yourself a Coaster if you were born and raised here
Generations built this place through blood, sweat & tears
Head down to the Pioneer, grab yourself a brew
Let the locals spin a yarn, most of it true

It’s in my blood, in my bones
This is where I come from

The West Coast,
Ohh the West Coast
You can travel all around this world, it’ll call you home
Back to the West Coast

Ohh West Coast,
Ohh the West Coast
You can travel all around this world it’ll call you home
Back to the West Coast

Running Out Of Time

If I slow down
I might not start again
Don’t wanna press pause
It’s easier to pretend

That everything is fine
Even if I’m falling by the wayside

Feel like I’m running out of time
Running out of time

If I step back
Would I like what I see
Spinning in circles
And keeping busy

Nothing is fine
And I’m falling by the wayside

Feel like I’m running out of time
Falling to far behind
Even if it’s all in my mind
Feels like I’m running out of time

If I fall down
Will you help me stand
Everything is messed up
Not going how I plan

wanna be better than fine
Want to make it to the finish line

Feel like I’m running out of time
Falling to far behind
Even if it’s all in my mind
Feels like I’m running out of time

Rock & Roll

There’s a smoky dive bar in every town
On a Saturday night, people come out from miles around
The band is all set up and good to go
Grab a whisky from the bar it’s time to start the show

As the first note rings out I hear somebody say

Go on play rock and roll, a bit of blues a bit of soul
Why can't you play something we all know

So I continue to play my honky-tonk set
Hoping this fool might get bored or forget
You can bet there’s always one in a crowd
I turn it up a little more to drown him out

You think he’d take a hint but he's still here

Just play us rock and roll, a little blues a little soul
Why can’t you do something we all know
Play something like Voodchild or Copperhead Road
Sweet Child of Mine or Like A Rolling Stone
“honey I do what I want, not what I’m told”
I don’t play that Rock and Roll

By this stage, my patience is wearing thin
I grab the mic, look his way and start to grin
I say “Hey old man, I told you to stay in ya car”
Without another word, he up and leave the bar

As the door slams behind him, you know just what I did

I played some fuckin’ rock and roll
A tonne of blues a tonne of soul
I play the songs the whole damn crowd knew
Something like Voodchild or Copperhead Road
Sweet Child of Mine or Like A Rolling Stone

"honey I do what I want, not what I'm told"
But I love that Rock and Roll

It Ain’t Easy

Give me a minute
I’m falling behind
The panic set in
Going out of my mind

I do it to myself, I know it’s true
I do it to myself, I always do

To get what you want it is simple
To get what you want it is simple
To get what you want it is simple
But it ain’t easy

I know what I want
But fears creeping in
There’s too much to do
Don’t know where to begin

I do it to myself, I know it’s true
I do it to myself, I always do

To get what you want it is simple
But it ain’t easy

With all good intentions I set the bar high
Take a deep breath, either laugh or I’ll cry
Giving up ain’t an option I’d rather die trying

You do it to yourself, you know it’s true
You do it to yourself, you always do

To get what you want it is simple
To get what I want it is simple
But it ain’t easy
It ain’t easy
